Alba Estrada López

STRAW Education Manager

I grew up in the Central Coast in Greenfield, California surrounded for miles by agricultural fields. Wanting to explore the world beyond my little town, I then attended University of California, Los Angeles where I majored in Biology with a double minor in Mexican Studies and Spanish. During my last quarter at UCLA, I applied to the Roger Arliner Young (RAY) Diversity Fellowship Program that in collaboration with Point Blue, allowed me to merge my passion for education, science, and social justice.

In my role as STRAW’s Education Manager, I work with grade school students across the Bay Area in their classroom and in active restoration sites throughout the academic school year. In the summer, I coordinate the Community College Conservation Internship, aiming to support community college students of color exploration of the environmental field by building community.

When I’m not at work, often you can find me behind some type of book (especially science-fiction), exploring the Bay Area, doing some yogi stretching or running around.
