Point Blue Conservation Science educators will guide you on an adventure to identify bird species and learn about their habitats, while at the same time raising money for Point Blue through our 36th Annual Rich Stallcup Bird-A-Thon!

September 12th, Thursday, Porto Bodega, Bodega Bay led by Mike Parmeter, former Board Member and current Bird-A-Thon Committee Member (9am-noon). Click here to sign up.
Benjamin "Mike" Parmeter began birding as a boy in Sonoma County. Mike has served on the California Birds Records Committee and co-founded the Redwood Regional Ornithological Society. In 1983 and 1984 Mike was part of a four person team that amassed record "big day" lists in the state and is the current record holder in several categories of California birding.
Meeting Location: Meet at 1500 Bay Flat Road, Bodega Bay, CA.

September 15th, Sunday, San Francisco Presidio with Ivan Samuels, former Bird-A-Thon Committee Member and Intern (8am-11am). Click here to sign up.
Spend a Bird-A-Thon style morning with Ivan Samuels in the Presidio of San Francisco. We will look for birds in a diversity of woodland, grassland, and urban habitats ending at the Crissy Field Lagoon and San Francisco Bay waterfront. We will bird on foot only, and carpool back to the meeting spot. Ivan Samuels is a long-time member and former intern of Point Blue Conservation Science. He currently both lives and works within the Presidio.
Meeting Location: Meet at the Inspiration Point Overlook, just beyond the Arguello Gate to the Presidio.

September 29th, Sunday, Outer Point Reyes with Scott Terrill, Avian Ecologist (9am-noon). Click here to sign up.
Join Scott to search for migrants and hopefully some vagrants. Scott Terrill is an avian ecologist who has produced over 30 scientific papers, primarily on bird migration, ecology, distribution and identification and contributed to several books. Scott has served as an elected member of the California Bird Records Committee for 15 years, Regional Editor for North American Birds for 10 years, and was the primary author of the Audubon Society Master Guide to Birding.
Meeting Location: We will meet at the Point Reyes Lighthouse parking lot. It is the parking lot at the terminus of Sir Francis Drake Road on outer Point Reyes.

October 12th, Saturday, Stinson Beach in West Marin led by Bob Battagin, Bird-A-Thon Committee Member, and Jim White (9am-noon). Click here to sign up.
We will be birding Bolinas Lagoon and some nearby habitats. We'll be looking for ducks, shorebirds, raptors, herons, and any other interesting sights to be found. Bob Battagin has birded West Marin and the San Francisco Bay Area for 17 years. He has led many field trips for several Bay Area Audubon Societies and has contributed monthly birding articles to the Plumas Audubon Society's newsletter for the past 13 years. Jim White is an avid birder. He graduated as a chemical engineer from Iowa State University in 1962, and has worked in the field of general contracting. He also enjoys hiking, camping, biking, and skiing.
Meeting Location: We will meet at the pull out along Highway 1 opposite the Stinson Beach Elementary School, approximately 1/2 mile north of the town of Stinson Beach.
