After attending UC Berkeley with an emphasis on Conservation and Resource Studies, Avery Hellman has worked for 5 years as a land manager at Five Springs Farm in Sonoma County. That work has primarily focused on facilitating projects that improve the ecological functions of the ranch, including a project with STRAW to restore creeks and wildlife corridors, planting of native trees and grasses, and improvements to pasture management. Along with ranch management, Avery’s other passion is the arts. Through music, short film, and audio storytelling, Avery works to bring awareness about progressive land management and environmental issues. Her involvement with music and conservation outreach have been performed or featured at Hardly Strictly Bluegrass, the Strawberry Music Festival, the Great American Music Hall, Slim’s, the Golden State Theater, and the Mystic Theater.
