Live from the Farallones: The Saga of the Island's Seals & Sea Lions

The sagas of seals and sea lions on the Farallon Islands National Wildlife Refuge have been tumultuous. Northern fur seals were hunted to near extinction, but their numbers have rebounded and are still growing since the designation of the Island as a USFWS National Wildlife Refuge. We’ve seen increases in Elephant seals and California and Steller’s sea lion numbers, but we’re now concerned about disappearing habitat with increasingly extreme storm events. Learn more about these stories and more when you join Point Blue Winter Biologist Garrett Duncan for this episode of Live from the Farallones.

Mark your calendars for now, and stay tuned for which venue we will broadcast to.
