Lead Restoration Technician

As a Lead Restoration Technician in Point Blue’s STRAW program (Students and Teachers Restoring A Watershed), I am responsible for leading restoration days with teachers, students, chaperons, and other public figures who are affiliated with our sites for half of the year. This consists of showing and continuing to learn about the processes of restoration in riparian, transition zones, Sierra meadows, and some California regional parks. I also prepare and deliver creative in-class lessons on restoration methods, ecosystem types, and endangered species. For the other half of the year, I am responsible for maintaining our restoration sites. This includes assessing site needs, planning for future maintenance, monitoring plants and birds, leading trainings, and maintaining a flourishing relationship with project managers and stakeholders for best results and understanding on working sites. I hope to continue to learn and grow in this position to better communicate science and the critical data that has been collected over the years to better serve underrepresented communities of past, present, and future generations.

I earned my AA in environmental science at the Santa Rosa Jr. College and am currently at the SRJC working to transfer to a 4-year college to continue my studies.
