Susie Hagemeister

Director

Susie comes with great concern that we humans have lost our connection as members and stewards of the natural world which is resulting in a climate, biodiversity, water and human health crisis and she is looking for ways to make a difference. Susie has been on the Board of Trustees for Sonoma Academy for six years serving on their Buildings and Grounds committee, Advancement committee, and the Committee on Trustees. The Buildings and Grounds committee created the guiding principles and actions for sustainability almost six years ago and currently is working on reporting out the many successes the committee has achieved so far. Susie served on the Sonoma Academy Parent board and served as board chair in 2013. She co-chaired the yearly fundraiser in 2012 and raised over $400,000. In addition to her board work, Susie is an advocate for their garden program including maintaining it for the last six years. Recently, Sonoma Academy was able to hire a full-time garden manager and sustainability educator which has allowed her to transition away from that responsibility and take on the next evolution of the garden program by assisting with their new Food Systems class which will address many of the same issues as Point Blue Conservation including climate, biodiversity, and water. Susie graduated from UCSB with a degree in Anthropology, and has traveled to many corners of the world. She worked in retail management for Esprit de Corp and Smith & Hawken. Her passion for the outdoors and wild places continues as she pursue paddle boarding, kayaking, hiking, skiing (in powder preferably), fly fishing and a bit of sun worshipping.
