Birdwatch with Friends

Do you love fashion, art, nature, birds, and sustainability? Well this fun outing has all those bases covered. Welcome to Birdwatch with Friends! Join us for a fun morning of birdwatching at understory shop. Grab your binoculars and get ready to spot some feathered friends. The event starts on Sat Feb 24 2024 at 10:00 AM Pacific Standard Time. It’s a great opportunity to connect with nature and hang out with fellow bird enthusiasts. Don’t miss out on this chance to enjoy the outdoors and learn more about our avian neighbors.

Come join Observation Society artist and nature lover Jordan Ma, Understory Shop owner and bird lover Wes Allen, and Point Blue Conservation Science staff member and birding guide Lishka Arata for a morning of birdwatching with friends!

Meeting spot and route:

We’ll meet at, gear up, and get acquainted at the Understory Shop. Then we’ll take a slow 2-mile round-trip urban birding walk from there to Bilger Quarry Pond and back. We will walk on sidewalks along a mostly flat route (elevation gain and drop of 52 feet).

Bring:

• comfortable walking shoes if you are walking; route is accessible for wheelchair users as well
• layers (Bay Area style)
• water bottle
• sunscreen
• binoculars if you have them (extra pairs will be provided if you don’t)
• digital or analog bird guide if you have one (extra field guides will be provided)
• notebook and pencils/pens if you’d like to sketch or take notes
• a sense of curiosity and adventure!
