We're counting birds for conservation for the 44th year September 15th through October 15th! Since its inception Point Blue’s Bird-A-Thon has raised more than $3 million for conservation science. It's not only fun, but impactful. Will you join us again or as newcomer this year? Your support will help Point Blue scientists reduce the impacts of climate change, habitat loss, and other environmental threats while promoting nature-based, climate-smart solutions for wildlife and people. You can form your own team, count individually, or join an in person or virtual event. This year's bird-a-thon includes specially designed merchandise, an art raffle, and a social media photo contest.
This event is named after an important founder of our organization. Rich Stallcup was an extraordinary naturalist and teacher who touched the lives of countless people. He played a pivotal role in the rise of birding as a national pastime—especially the love of birds as a motive for conservation. Although we lost a great friend when Rich passed away, in December 2012, Point Blue will forever carry on his legacy of devotion to conserving “all things wild.”
Why does it matter if a scientist measures a bird's wing in millimeters or inches? What does cloud-based data management do for conservation impact? Learn the answers and more in our new Quarterly newsletter.
