Birding a Marin County Ranch at Point Reyes Birding & Nature Festival

Leiss Ranch

8:00 AM - 1:00 PM

185 Wilson Hill Road, Petaluma, CA 94952

Join guides Jennifer Phillips, Heather Cameron, and Sam Smith for a unique opportunity to bird riparian, woodland, and grassland habitats on private ranch lands restored by Point Blue’s STRAW (Students and Teachers Restoring a Watershed) program in western Marin County. These ranches demonstrate how working lands and community-based habitat restoration can make a difference for wildlife. Participants will learn about the STRAW restoration program that connects students to their watersheds through hands-on restoration and empowers the community. We will get a chance to see a variety of swallows and grassland sparrows, as well as a variety of riparian-loving flycatchers, orioles, and warblers. Highlights from last year’s field trip included Western Kingbird, Merlin, Bullock and Hooded Orioles, and a Golden Eagle.

Participants have to register for the festival first, and then sign up for the birding field trip.
