Bilingual Conservation Educator

Joining Point Blue’s STRAW team in 2025 gave me a vibrant new way to connect with the Bay Area in ways I never imagined. As a Bilingual Conservation Educator, I feel inspired to bring diverse communities into the outdoors and make environmental stewardship a welcoming, joyful experience for everyone. Nature is where I feel most grounded, and working with plants and people reminds me that land, people, and all living things are connected. I feel fortunate to do work that protects natural spaces while empowering local community members in the process.

I was born in Chihuahua, where the Sierra and desert landscapes first taught me what home feels like. Growing up, that feeling of home expanded to the coast of Tijuana, and later south to Guadalajara with its colorful cities and hills. My family moved to the U.S. in 2012, living in Arizona before settling in California. Moving around so much has taught me that every land is shaped by the people and cultures who care for it, which is why seeing our stories authentically represented in these spaces matters so much. Guided by my family and Hispanic roots, I carry the memories and lessons of these places wherever I go. They keep me grounded, resilient, and inspired to honor both the land and my community.

After earning my degree in Ecological Biology from CSU Chico, I served as a California Climate Action Corps Fellow, partnering with K–12 schools on hands-on sustainability projects, green space restoration, and environmental education. I joined the South Bay team of STRAW in 2025 as a Restoration Technician, where I got to connect with students in hands-on habitat restoration and learn the vital function of ongoing maintenance in restoration projects.

When I’m not out in the field, you’ll usually find me trying out a new recipe in the kitchen, enjoying daily walks, painting, heading out on a road trip or camping trip, diving underwater on a really good day, or hanging out with my dogs!
