Emily Mecke

Roots Program Coordinator

As the Roots Program Coordinator, I assist with administration of the Roots Program Block Grant. This includes working with Point Blue staff across the Working Lands Partner Biologists and STRAW (Students and Teachers Restoration A Watershed) programs to advance wildlife-friendly community-based and community-centered restoration projects on farms, ranches, and other working landscapes across California.

Prior to coming to Point Blue, I worked in environmental consulting for 10 years as a biologist and project manager, completing environmental compliance for a variety of projects across California. I received a B.S. in Environmental Science and Management from the University of California, Davis and a Master’s degree in Environmental Management from the University of San Francisco. My passion for working in the conservation/restoration field stems from my childhood growing up in Vermont and spending time exploring the woods behind my house. I currently work and reside in Petaluma, California.

When I’m not working, I enjoy getting outside whether it is playing sports, hiking, or skiing , exploring new hobbies, or just meeting up with friends.
