Henry Feldman

STRAW Restoration Technician

Hello! I am Henry Feldman, a new Restoration Technician on the Sonoma Coast team. I grew up in Berkeley and went to the University of Pennsylvania to pursue a degree in Environmental Science, graduating in 2023 without a real idea of what I wanted to do. After graduation, I split my time working as an outdoor environmental educator and restoration intern in Philadelphia and New York and loved any small bit of fieldwork I could get. Looking for jobs outside, I moved back to the Bay (West coast Best coast) and started an AmeriCorps position based in the Presidio in San Francisco. Since then, I had a short stint with environmental consulting and now I am here!

At the Presidio, I fell in love with ecological restoration and started my botany journey! I managed a new 4 acre native sand dune restoration site and led countless volunteer programs across the Golden Gate National Recreation Area. I assisted the nursery, staffed outreach tables, and helped on ecological horticulture projects.

Throughout my experiences, I have been driven by the desire to learn from and connect with the land and my community. I have grown tremendously through my environmental work, building confidence through public speaking and volunteer management. I enjoy committing myself to large restoration projects and watching spaces change. I also appreciate the variability that comes with maintaining restored areas across multiple years and seasons; I am never bored 🙂

Outside of work, I love to go rock climbing, play guitar, hike around with my buddies, and take naps in my hammock. I am excited to get into my role at Point Blue and meet everyone who makes this org function!
