Restoration Technician
As a restoration technician with Point Blue’s STRAW program, no two seasons ever look the same—and that’s exactly how I like it! In the winter and spring, I get to team up with incredible K–12 students to restore habitats across ranches, creeks, streams, and tidal wetlands in the San Francisco Bay Area and the Southern Cascades. Come summer and fall, it’s maintenance season: we water our plants, care for the land we’ve helped revive, and gear up for exciting new restoration sites.
My love for this work blossomed during my time at UCLA, where I earned my B.S. in Ecology, Behavior, and Evolutionary Biology in 2023. While there, I dove into community-based restoration and environmental education through campus groups and local organizations. That’s where I discovered the joy of combining science, hands-on work, and community. Finding the STRAW program felt like striking gold—I moved to Petaluma, started as an apprentice, and haven’t looked back since.
One side effect of working at Point Blue? I’ve caught the birding bug—big time. Whether I’m on-site or out running errands, I’ve usually got a pair of binoculars within reach, always ready to spot a new feathered friend. Outside of work (and the world of birds), you can often find me at the movie theater overanalyzing the latest release, rehearsing my (purely hypothetical) Broadway debut, or road-tripping around California to take in its stunning views.
