Kait Schroeder

Director of Development Operations

In my role as Director of Development Operations for Point Blue, I provide support across the Development Department so that our team can reach the fundraising goals necessary to achieve Point Blue’s vital mission. I’m thrilled to be part of a wonderful team of staff, board members, supporters, and other partners committed to climate-smart conservation!

As far back as I can remember, I’ve cared deeply about the health of our planet and the interconnectedness of all living things. My passion for science and education led me to earn a B.S. in Chemistry with a Minor in Education from Haverford College in Haverford, Pennsylvania. I devoted the first sixteen years of my career to education and youth development, first as a high school chemistry teacher at the Millbrook School, a unique boarding school with a commitment to stewardship of the natural world, and then in a variety of direct service and leadership roles at Summer Search, a national youth development nonprofit that partners with adolescents from low-income backgrounds through a combination of long-term mentoring and transformative experiences that support their journeys to thrive in school, work, and life.

Born and raised in the Boston area, after four years working at Summer Search Boston, in 2010 I moved across the country with my husband to Petaluma to become the Executive Director of the North San Francisco Bay program site. During my six years as Executive Director, we increased the number of students served by 86% and grew local fundraising revenue over 140%. I subsequently spent two years working as a part of Summer Search’s national senior management team, first as Managing Director of Regions and then as Vice President, Programs.

During a year off from work to focus on my family and community involvement, I had the good fortune to become connected with Point Blue as a volunteer in the Development Department. When the chance arose to officially join the team in October 2019, I grabbed it! For me, working at Point Blue is an incredible opportunity to leverage my professional skills and experience across fundraising and project management in service of my life-long passion for science and conservation. At Point Blue, I’m grateful to be able to invest in an organization based in my local Petaluma community but whose impact ripples out across the globe.

Outside of work I can be found reading, exploring the natural world with my two young kids, looking for new health conscious (yet tasty!) recipes, and generally enjoying as much family time as possible.
