About Point Blue’s Bird-A-Thon:
Point Blue’s Bird-A-Thon, now in its 47th year, honors the late naturalist Rich Stallcup and is one of the nation’s longest-running birding fundraisers. Each fall, birders and nature lovers of all levels count as many species as they can while raising vital support for Point Blue’s mission to conserve birds, other wildlife, and ecosystems through science, partnership, and outreach. The 2025 mascot is the Bewick’s Wren—a tiny but mighty songbird featured on t-shirts and sweatshirts with artwork by Point Blue biologist Christina Burnham. Participants can join solo or with a team, set up fundraising pages, and rally sponsors to pledge per species or give one-time gifts. It’s a fun way to sharpen your birding skills, celebrate community, and make a real difference for a healthy planet. Registration is open now at pointblue.org/birdathon!
