The Beak Geeks South Bay Bird Walk

Join us for a morning of birding in celebration of the 48th Annual Rich Stallcup Bird-A-Thon! The Beak Geeks welcome birders of all levels to join us at Palo Alto Baylands Nature Preserve for a Bird-A-Thon walk with South Bay-based staff from Point Blue’s Students and Teachers Restoring A Watershed (STRAW) program.

We’ll meet at Baylands Nature Preserve Parking South. There will be an orange traffic sign saying “STRAW project.” The walk will be led by Denise Lopez, Restoration Project Manager, and Jenni Phillips, Restoration Director. Together, we’ll try to spot (or hear!) as many bird species as possible while enjoying time in nature.

What to Expect:

We anticipate a casual walk along the Marsh Front Trail, the Duck Pond Loop, and a part of San Francisquito Creek Trail. This route will cover about 1.5 miles. There is free parking available on site, as well as drinking water and restrooms.

What to Bring:

• Binoculars (we may have some extras available for use)
• Comfortable walking shoes
• Sunglasses, hat, and layers
• Water
• A snack if you need one
